Action Summary of City Council Meetings
The following is a summary of key action items taken by the Mayor and Council at the last City Council meeting. The meeting was held at City Hall at 25 East Alabama Street, Tallapoosa.

City Council “Regular” Meeting – January 8, 2024
- Minutes, financials, and checks over $300 approved.
- Approved the election results from November 2023. Jonathan James, Bobby Parker, and Mark Smith qualified for office last year and were unopposed. The unopposed candidates were deemed to have voted for themselves and the election was cancelled.
- Judge Hulsey administered the oaths of office for Jonathan James, Bobby Parker, and Mark Smith.
- Councilmember Dan Pope, Post #1 was elected to serve as mayor pro tem for the next two years. The mayor pro tem exercises the mayor’s authority in the case of an absence, disability, or vacancy of office.
- Approved the appointment of Suzy Montalto as the new city clerk.
- Approved the amended final year-end budget for 2023.
- Approved minor plat change on Tax Parcel 0033-0052B and Tax Parcel 0048-0087 owned by Keith and Nancy Lyles.
- Approved the renewal invoice for the city’s worker’s compensation policy from the Georgia Municipal Association. The premium is $99,190.00 for 2024.
- Approved the purchase of a new fairway mower for the golf course from Abel Turf and Tractor. The price of the mower is $41,000.00. The city received a $5,000 trade-in amount off the original purchase price of $46,000.00.
- Approved scheduling the Possum Drop event for December 31, 2024.
The next scheduled meeting for the Mayor and Council is Monday,
February 12th, at 6:00 pm at City Hall at 25 E. Alabama St.
