Citywide Cleanup
Saturday, May 6, 2023 | 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Spring cleaning isn’t just for homes and garages – it’s for communities. The City of Tallapoosa is hosting again this year a Citywide Clean Up Event in conjunction with Keep Haralson Beautiful “Landfill Partnership Day” which is scheduled for the same day. The City-Wide Cleanup Day will include volunteers armed with plastic bags combing through parks, along ditches, fence lines, and neighborhoods in the community picking up trash. Keep Haralson Beautiful will provide volunteers with tools like gloves, bags, and litter grabbers for volunteers to use during the event.
“This is a great way to help clean up our community,” said Mayor Jones. “It’s a great community service project for groups, especially youth groups, and teams, as well as getting groups and teams from businesses together to spend a few hours during the week or on a Saturday morning cleaning up an area of town.”
Residents can register with a group to clean up a designated area or just show up at City Hall and be assigned to an area on May 6th. Registration in advance is recommended for a t-shirt. T-shirts and supplies are available while supplies last.

Free Day at the Landfill
222 Landfill Road
The Tallapoosa Clean Up event is in conjunction with the countywide free day at the landfill scheduled on the same day. Keep Haralson Beautiful and Haralson County Government have partnered to allow residents of the county the opportunity for free dumping at the C&D Landfill at 222 Budapest Cemetery Road from 9 am until 3 pm. Restricted items are household garbage, boats, tires, gas tanks, household hazardous waste such as paint, batteries, chemicals, etc.
COURTESY CURBSIDE PICKUP
Beginning Tuesday, May 2nd, the city will have a large roll-off dumpster at the public works department parking lot located behind City Hall at 25 East Alabama Street to accommodate salvage items. If residents are unable to take their salvage items (no household trash) to the public works department roll-off area, residents may call City Hall at (770) 574-2345 Tuesday – Thursday (May 2-4) from 8 am – 4 pm and request assistance. The city will limit curb service to residents who are unable to deliver their items to the landfill or roll-off dumpster because of some physical impairment. This service will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Note: Brush and Limb pickup will be as normal with scheduling on Thursdays each week with limbs no longer than 4 feet and separated from the brush; call City Hall to be placed on the pickup list.
