Action Summary of City Council Meetings
The following is a summary of key action items taken by the Mayor and Council at the last City Council meeting, which was held at City Hall, 25 East Alabama Street, Tallapoosa.
Attendance: Mayor Brett Jones; Dan Pope, Post #1; Jacqueline Roberts, Post #2; Mark Smith, Post #3; Jonathan James, Post #4; Bobby Parker, Post #5.
City Council “Regular” Meeting – April 14, 2025
- Financials, minutes and checks over $300 approved.
- Mayor Jones signed a Proclamation recognizing April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
- Approved Melissa Chandler as Interim City Clerk.
- Approved adding Police Chief Gene Brown to Bank OZK Police account.
- Approved updating to the Interop Software system for the Police Department. This is the system used by surrounding policing agencies.
- Approved installing 8 Flock Safety Cameras within the parameters of the city. Locations include Hwy 78, Hwy 100 and 120, Broad St. and Providence Church Rd.
- Approved 3 plot requests from Ken Barkley, Lane Grantham, and Brett Jones.
- Approved Mr. Eidson attending the Rural Water meeting in May 2025.
- Approved stump grinding at Hollywood cemetery at a cost not to exceed $2400.00.
- Approved purchasing property behind City Hall for a cost of $22,000.00.

May 12, 2025, at 6:00 pm at City Hall at 25 E. Alabama St.
